How to implement activities and practices that promote equality and value diversity in an ECCE setting

In my placement I looked the whole area of equality and the policy that stated how parents were involved.  They were involved in promoting and development of local community.  They have undertaken a number of successful projects such as building of Community Centre, Development of Youth and Sports activities and development of a Playground and the Astro Turf Pitch.

Everything the children needs are available in the centre, like toys, materials and resources for activities, also they can bring their own favourite toys.  Parents are welcome asks to help in their child development.  Staff share also their time and moments during the day.  Although I have only few visits in my ECCE setting placement, I know that parents are happy and know that their children are in a good place, safe and secure.

The Centre has complete amenities designed to meet the needs of all children including those with disabilities.  The children getting the services are from different culture and employed also from different culture.  This showed that equality and diversity were recognise, since they cater from completely different background. Children brought their family picture and posted them on the wall and everyone have an idea about each family.  They also employed a good, qualified and experience staff to help children and follow the Aistear and Siolta standard.

Every room from creche to afterschool were providing a different kind of toys for all ages, pictures of each child with a date of birth and all their art work were posted on the wall or displayed on top of the press.  Children also learn a nursery rhymes, action song and Christmas songs.

Staff are aware that appropriate language used at all times and this clearly stated in the Code of Behaviour Policy.  Everyone treated with respect and staff are always prepared to answer unpredictable question children ask, because they it is answered could have a big impact on the way children perceive things.  One time the boy complained that he was hit by another child, and the staff asked what he wants another child to do to that he will feel ok.  The boy replied shake hands, and the staff ask the girl how we solve the problem.  Later on, after few attempts talking to girl to shook hands, she did eventually.  The boy shook hand with the girl and the staff follow up if he feels ok, and said yes.

Every week there is a plan of activities for children, below is taken from the Pre-school room.
